Press Coverage of the Umbrella Cover Museum
National Public Radio at the UCM

The world has discovered the Umbrella Cover Museum in a big way in 1997. In only our second year of existence, National Public Radio contributor Karen Michel came out to the Museum and did an interview with Director and Curator, Nancy 3. Hoffman. The piece was aired on Sunday, September 14th on Weekend Sunday Edition. It featured The Petting Zoo, our first interactive exhibit, and Nancy 3. singing "Let a Smile Be Your Umbrella" while accompanying herself on the accordion.

Fortunately, Museum Trustee Lynn Heinemann heard the story on the early show in Boston and called to alert Director Hoffman of the airing so that she could catch it at noon in Maine. Calls and cards have come in from New York, Baltimore, Vermont and New Mexico from supporters enthusing that they caught the show. Did you hear it?
